Over the summer, District Council 37 Executive
Director Lillian Roberts appointed new members to the Health and Security Plan's
policy-setting body.
The new trustees are Claude Fort, president of Civil
Service Technical Guild Local 375, Lenora Gates, executive vice president of Clerical-Administrative
Employees Local 1549, Shirley Revells, treasurer of Board of Education Employees
Local 372 and Shaurain Farber, treasurer of the DC 37 Retirees Association, who
will be a non-voting board member.
Ms. Roberts chairs the Board of Trustees,
which also includes DC 37 Associate Director Oliver Gray as vice chair and Real
Estate Employees Local 1219 President Magda de Jesus and DEP Supervisory Employees
Local 1322 President John Townsend as trustees.
The board is legally
responsible for maintaining the fiscal health of the plan. Trustees vote periodically
on changes in the vast array of benefits the plan offers. These include prescription
drugs, dental, vision, podiatry and hearing benefits as well as legal services.
