Union community mourns caring podiatrist Dr. Richard Sewell

DC 37 Podiatry Center Director Dr. Richard Sewell was on his way to work at the center on Joralemon Street in downtown Brooklyn July 6 when he suddenly collapsed and died.

"He was one of those people who loved what he did," said Bernadette Orange, administrator of the DC 37 health clinics. "What he enjoyed most was talking to the patients and being able to help them."

At a July 26 memorial ceremony with staff of the center and the DC 37 Health and Security Plan, Orange and Health and Security Plan Administrator Cynthia Chin Marshall presented them with a plaque to honor his memory and many years of service to DC 37 members.

A graduate of Rutgers University, Sewell worked at the center for more than two decades. He is survived by his wife and three children.
