Political Action 2012 Green Machine ready for November Union-backed candidates do well

DC 37's Green Machine was on the streets working for candidates who fight for working people on Thursday, Sept. 13 for the Democratic Party primary elections.
In Brooklyn the union-backed Martin Malave Dilan, who represents the 18th Senate District, won his primary race easily.
In the Bronx Gustavo Rivera, who represents the 33rd Senate District, won his primary election. Rivera is a strong advocate of affordable housing and tenants' rights. He fought to extend rent regulation laws when they were set to expire.
Union support in key races
In the Brooklyn state Assembly races, Rhoda S. Jacobs won her election to represent the 42nd state Assembly District; William Boyland Jr. won his election in the 55th Assembly District; N. Nick Perry won in the 58th Assembly District seat and Inez Barron won her race in the 60th Assembly District. Barron has supported legislation to help first-time urban homeowners avoid foreclosure.
In the Bronx state Assembly races, Vanessa Gibson won her race in the 77th Assembly District; José Rivera won in the 78th Assembly District; Nelson Castro in the 86th and Luis Sepulveda in the 87th.
In the 40th Assembly District in Queens, the union backed the winner, Ron Kim, and the union also supported Michael Miller in the 38th Assembly District. Kim has supported raising the minimum wage and the New York State Dream Act.
