Latino Heritage celebrated at DC 37

By ALFREDO ALVARADO

The union’s Latino Heritage Committee held their traditional ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 15 at DC 37 headquarters to mark the beginning of Latino Heritage Month.

The theme for the month-long celebration is “Latinos enhancing future generations with diversity and inclusion” announced the committee Chair Carmen Flores and co-Chair Isabel Figueroa. At the ceremony DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido pointed to the large numbers of Latinos who are eligible to vote but don’t. “Donald Trump has done us a big favor with those offensive comments he’s made, but we shouldn’t need that to get us motivated to vote,” Garrido said.

Locals 420, 371 and 372 each organized events to celebrate the Latino heritage of DC 37 members.
