Public Employee Press
Staffer featured in the New York Times By ALFREDO ALVARADO The work of Public Employee Press Staff Photographer Clarence Elie-Rivera was recently featured in the New York Times Lens Blog. Edited by the award-winning journalist and photographer David Gonzalez, the blog features photography, video and visual journalism. Posted on June 26, the series of black and white photos documents the gritty streets and colorful characters of the Lower East Side of Manhattan back during the late 1980s to mid-1990s when Elie-Rivera lived on Ludlow Street. He took pictures of birthdays, weddings, funerals and neighborhood residents at the local pool hall. “It’s a real honor to have been selected by David Gonzalez for the New York Times blog,” Elie-Rivera said.
