Snapshots Edited by Alfredo Alvarado Climate group hosts film festival
The DC 37 Climate Justice Committee is hosting a film festival and panel this month.
The DC 37 Climate Change Film Festival will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at union headquarters. The festival will include free popcorn and a lively discussion.
Three short films, "The Rap Guide to Climate Chaos," "Six Degrees Could Change the World," and "This is What Energy Democracy Looks Like," will be shown at the festival.
The panel, "Climate Justice and Public Pension Funds," will be held at union headquarters from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The panel will explore how divestment from fossil fuel companies can be used to promote clean energy practices.
Topics that will be covered include the case for fossil fuel divestment, jobs and environmental justice, strategies for divestment and successful cases of divestment.
DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido and Local 1501 President Jeremy Sanders, DC 37 Climate Justice Committee Chair, will deliver opening remarks.
