Contribute to earthquake survivors

The death toll from the devastating earthquake that shook Pakistan, India and Afghanistan on Oct. 8 was approaching 74,000 with another 52,000 people injured as PEP went to press. Rescuers had been unable to reach hundreds of thousands of survivors and uncounted casualties. The magnitude 7.6 quake has also left hundreds of thousands of people homeless as winter approaches.

The DC 37 Asian Heritage Committee and Executive Director Lillian Roberts urge members to step forward with financial contributions to assist the earthquake survivors. “This is an unbelievable tragedy,” said Local 1407 President Maf Misbah Uddin, chair of the Asian Heritage Committee and treasurer of DC 37. “I urge our members to give generously to assist our brothers and sisters.”

Checks should be made payable to the DC 37 Asian Heritage Committee and should note Earthquake Relief on the bottom of the check. Send your contributions to DC 37, 125 Barclay St. Room 525, New York, NY 10007.
