The Latino Heritage Committee will kick off
Puerto Rican Heritage Week at the union at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17,
with an opening ceremony in the first floor gallery. The theme, 25 Years
Continuing to Move Forward, marks the unions 25th year of celebrating
the week. All members are invited to these events and must bring their union ID.
A
forum on health issues concerning the Puerto Rican community such
as AIDS, diabetes, breast cancer and hypertension will be held at 6 p.m.,
Wednesday, Nov. 19. With a cultural focus, the grand finale will begin
at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21. For more information, look for flyers in the

All who want tips on
how to avoid financial woes after the holidays are invited to a pre-holiday Financial
Seminar by the DC 37 Black History Committee. The seminar will be at
the union at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18. To register, please call 212-815-1305. For

The Professional Committee will hold
a conference on the Challenges of the 21st Century for professionals in
the workplace from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Battery
Gardens Restaurant on the Harbor. Members of locals in the DC 37 Professional
Division who wish to attend should call their local presidents.

AIDS Day is Monday, Dec. 1. Volunteers from the DC 37 Womens
Committee will distribute information and red ribbons in the lobby. Look for fliers
in the lobby about other events that day. | |
