Woodhull Hospital holds Union Education and Benefits Fair
Membership has its privileges, as dozens of Woodhull Hospital employees learned Sept. 21 at the Union Education and Benefits Fair.
"This joint fair was put together by the hospital's labor caucus and management to promote academic and professional growth and help motivate staff," said Diane Starks, chair of the Woodhull Staff Development Committee and a member of Local 768.
Woodhull Labor Caucus Chair and Local 371 member Martha Bolden led the planning with DC 37 Field Services Director Barbara Edmonds. Staffers David Boyd of the union's Municipal Employees Legal Services, Norman Isaacs of the Health and Security Fund, and representatives of DC 37 Locals 299, 371, 420, 768, 1407 and 1549 and other unions shared information on voluntary and disability insurance, tuition assistance, health benefits, educational opportunities and career advancement for Woodhull's unionized health care workers.
"The committee's goal is to provide a one-stop-shopping experience where employees can ask questions and get the answers they need," Starks said. "This information will help union members see opportunities for themselves."
