Climate activists march in Harlem

Union activists from around the city came together Oct. 14 in Harlem for an Environmental Day of Action.

The DC 37 activists, members of the union's Climate Justice Committee, gathered at 115th Street and marched to the Harlem State Office Building on 125th Street. "Demonstrations and marches like this are taking place in 100 cities around the country," said Local 375 member and DC 37 Vice President Jon Forster. The union activists were joined during the march by state Sen. Bill Perkins and City Council member Mark Levin, along with Harlem U.S. Congress member Charles Rangel.

The activists called for government to move away from fossil fuels and make investment in clean energy, public housing and jobs with a livable wage.
