602 Local 372 members recognized

The New York City Dept. of Education honored their employees for the many years of providing quality service to the city's 1.5 million children who attend public schools. The employees were honored with a luncheon on Oct. 18 at DC 37 headquarters during the DOE's annual Employee Recognition Day.

Among those acknowledged were 602 members of Local 372. The local represents School Crossing Guards, Parent Coordinators, Substance Abuse and Prevention Counselors, Loaders and Handlers, School Aides and Cafeteria Workers. Among those receiving a certificate for his years of dedication and service was Senior Lunch Room Helper Ronald Fowler. The Local 372 member has been preparing lunches in school cafeterias for 45 years.

DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido thanked the members for their years of hard work on behalf of the city's schoolchildren. "You are truly the everyday heroes that keep our city running, through calm and crisis, in good times and bad," he said at the luncheon.
