DC 37’s Barbara Edmonds is honored by the Renaissance Heath Care Network

The Renaissance Health Care Network of Northern Manhattan honored DC 37 Field Services Director Barbara Edmonds Oct. 24 at the annual public meeting of its Community Advisory Board.

Edmonds received the Charles H. Moore Jr. Community Service Award, which was presented by Jackie Rowe-Adams, a member of the CAB and of the DC 37 Executive Board.

CAB Vice President Barbara Taylor told Edmonds, “Your dedication to the delivery of quality health care for all has been evident in the extraordinary efforts you have made to address the health care needs in Central and West Harlem. Since this is a community that suffers disproportionately from cancer, TB, AIDS and infant mortality, we are delighted to present this award to you.”

Rowe-Adams, who also sang “One Day at a Time” at the meeting, said Edmonds deserved the award “because of her involvement with the community and her focus on health care issues.”

The event’s keynote speaker was Irene Corina of Persons United Limiting Substandard Errors, who addressed issues of patient safety, and Harlem Hospital Executive Director John M. Palmer, Ph.D.,delivered closing remarks.
