Your point of view

Question: Why did you decide to become a volunteer member organizer?

This is a time that we need to revive unions. Many people are working, but they don’t belong to unions and unions have been declining. People need to understand that the reason they are losing health-care benefits and pensions is that they don’t have a union.

Organizing is the most important thing unions can do right now. It is the key to the renaissance of the union movement. I’m really thrilled that DC 37 has set up an organizing department. I look forward to helping any way I can.

I am interested in building the union. I believe in equal opportunity, so I want to help others get the rights and benefits that we have.

I have been with the union a long time and I know the benefits of being in a union. A lot of young people who work in non-union jobs can’t afford college even though they think they are being paid good money. I have grands and great-grands and I want them to be better off.
