LAYOFFS: The human toll
Loss of Aide devastates kids

After learning that School Aide Danna Nelson was targeted for firing, fourth- and fifth-graders at Queens PS 181 held a goodbye party, where they gave her handmade cards and letters, a few printed below.

Some expressed sadness and others aimed anger (occasionally in language inappropriate for this family newspaper) at Mayor Bloomberg, whom they identified as the architect of the layoffs.

“I will make sure my mom won’t vote for . . . bloombrug,” said one, and another told the mayor, “No body likes you!! Eat mud worms…and don’t let Miss Nelson go!!!”

One student wrote Bloomberg, “What is your reason for letting my favorite lunchade layoff in my school. Today you broke so mani harts including my hart,” and ended, “Mad at You.”
