Employee Press Subway ads win
top prize The DC 37 subway ad campaign, Cut Private
Contractors, Not Public Services, has won a platinum award in a 2009 competition
held by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals. Platinum
is the top honor in this competition and this is the first time the union has
won it. In this years MarCom competition, there were almost 5,000
entrants. The DC 37 ad campaign was among the approximately 18 percent of entries
about 900 that received the platinum award that goes to entries
judged to be among the most outstanding in the competition. MarCom Awards
is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement
by marketing and communication professionals. The competition has grown to perhaps
the largest of its kind in the world. Platinum winners are recognized
for their excellence in quality and creativity. After the platinum awards, another
18 percent of entries win gold awards, and 10 percent get honorable mention.
In addition to its awards programs, the AMCP provides grants for pro bono
public service advertising.
