Conference addresses Puerto Rico crisis

Executive Director Henry Garrido headed a large contingent of DC 37 leaders at the annual Somos el Futuro conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Nov. 4-8 conference featured panel discussions with activists and elected officials on topics ranging from climate change to health care and the current economic crisis in Puerto Rico.

Garrido and Anthony Wells, president of SSEU Local 371, participated in a panel discussion on workers' compensation.

During the traditional Saturday morning labor breakfast, Garrido also received an award for his contributions to the labor movement.

Israel Miranda, president of Local 2507; Shaun D. Francois I, president of Local 372; Kyle Simmons, president of Local 924 and Isabel Figueroa, vice president of Local 420, also participated in the conference.
