Roberts honored
by disabled children's group DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts and
Congress Member Major R. Owens were honored Nov. 6 for their support of disabled
children at the annual Gala Benefit Celebration of the group Resources for Children
With Special Needs. This evenings honorees have dedicated
themselves to the well-being of the children, families and working people of New
York City, and to the development and education of all children and youth,
said Karen T. Schlesinger, Executive Director of the organization. We thank
them, and honor their commitment and their significant impact of life in our city
and beyond. Resources for Children provides special training and
workshops for parents of children with disabilities and for professionals who
work in the field. They also provide essential resource directories to public
and voluntary hospitals, child-serving clinics, public schools and every library
branch in New York City. When their unique Comprehensive Directory is
published this winter, they will be able to provide parents up-to-date and expanded
information on the full range of programs and services available to disabled children.
They have made such a big contribution to children with special needs,
said Roberts as she received her award. Im so honored because we have
such a great organization where we can send the children of our members if they
need assistance. | |
