Political Action 2008

For primary power, volunteer Feb. 5

The union needs volunteers to make a difference for Hillary Clinton and union candidates in the New York State presidential primary on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The state moved its Primary Day to February from June to have a more direct impact on which candidate is chosen to run for president of the United States in the November general elections.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, DC 37’s parent union, and District Council 37 have endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in 2008, and five DC 37 leaders are running for election as delegates to the Democratic National Convention. The union urges registered New York Democrats to support Hillary Clinton and the following delegate candidates at the polls on Feb. 5:DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts; DC 37 Treasurer Maf Misbah Uddin, president of Local 1407; Political Director Wanda Williams; Political Action Chair Lenny Allen, president of Local 2021; and Local 1549 activist Belinda Dixon.

To get out the vote on Primary Day, DC 37 is asking for volunteers to get active with the union’s political Green Machine. If you want to make a difference, volunteer with your union on Tuesday, Feb. 5, by returning the coupon at right.
