PAC holds a holiday food drive

In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving to the less fortunate, DC 37's Political Action and Legislation Committee has teamed up with the 57th Assembly District Democratic Organization for a community food drive.

Activists arrived at the monthly PAC meeting on Nov. 10 with bags full of canned goods and filled more than a dozen boxes to launch the drive.

"Thank you for your generous contributions, you have come through again," DC 37 Political Action Director Wanda Williams told the participants.

All of the food collected was donated to food pantries in Brooklyn's 57th A.D. for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

City Council member Leroy Comrie, who represents District 27 in Queens, attended the meeting and warned the members of difficult times ahead for city residents. "We're going to need you in the streets, going to meetings and sending e-mails," he said.

Newly elected City Council member Ruben Wills, who won a heated contest to represent the 28th District in Queens, thanked the members for their support on Election Day.

"When I saw all those DC 37 members on the streets with green jackets, I knew we were going to be okay," Wills told the activists at the meeting.
