Members work around the clock

In the city that never sleeps, DC 37 members work around the clock for all New Yorkers. While families celebrate the holidays together, Job Training Participants are hard at work, keeping our public parks clean and safe. On Thanksgiving morning DC 37's new Blue Collar Division Director David Catala and Sr. Council Rep Yolanda Johnson met with dozens of Parks Department JTPs working in Canarsie Park, Brooklyn, near the Jamaica Bay nature reserves.

The Human Resources Administration runs the JTP program which pays participants wages for six months of on-the-job training and offers them union membership through the JTP Association under DC 37. Catala said, "Through this jobs program, JTPs also can earn certifications and commercial driver's licenses and add valuable skills to their resumes."
