Mexican official praises HHC workers
The governor-elect of the Mexican state of
Puebla, Mario P. Marin, returned to New York to show his appreciation
for the care he received at Metroplitan Hospital Center.
Mr. Marin was en route from Los Angeles to New York when he felt severe
abdominal pain. A friend recommended that he go straight to Metropolitan.
At the Health and Hospitals Corp. institution, he was quickly evaluated.
On Dec. 19, an emergency operation for acute appendicitis saved his life.
He returned to New York Dec. 27 to thank the hospitals staff. We
dont have a hospital like this in Puebla, with all of the modern
equipment, said the governor, now completely recovered.
At the news conference he also praised the excellent care that he received
from the staff, which includes hundreds of members of Municipal Hospital
Employees Union Local 420, Clerical-Administrative Employees Local 1549
and other DC 37 locals.
Everyone treated me very well, said Mr. Marin with HHC chief
Dr. Benjamin Chu at his side. Thats why I came back to say
thank you.
