Ed Fund asks members: “How are we doing?”

In 1971 the District Council 37 Education Fund was created to provide educational opportunities for eligible union members. For the past 35 years the fund has presented programs designed to help members develop their academic and occupational skills. Today the courses offered range from Adult Basic Education to Foreign Language Skills, Computer Training, Allied Health and Career Development.

As DC 37 prepares for the future, the Education Fund would like to hear from you, the membership, regarding ways in which the fund has assisted you in reaching your educational goals. In addition, your thoughts about future offerings of the fund would be greatly appreciated.

Please take a moment to complete the survey below and return it. “Your responses will be carefully reviewed and considered as we prepare for the future. Our past success would have been impossible if not for the dedication and commitment of DC 37 members. Thank you for making the past 35 years possible, and we look forward to working with you in the future,” said Ed Fund Administrator Barbara Kairson.

Your point of view
“I never was interested in politics, but ever since 9/11, I’ve felt a need to understand what’s going on in the world. So when I learned about the Public Administration course at The College of New Rochelle, I decided to take it.”
— Deneen Jones
Family Worker, Local 372
“I’m taking Eng-lish Grammar Review. I need to get a touch up on some things because I haven’t been in school for a long time. I’m trying to take baby steps and then go back to college, so I’m taking advantage of the Ed Fund classes.”
— Angelo Vollaro NYPD Custodian, Local 1597
“I want to learn as much as I can about Accoun-ting, since I want to start my own business some day and you have to understand what’s going on with the books! I’ve been waiting for this class and I’m kind of excited.”
— Julia Phillips Supervising Public Health Advisor, Local 768
