Lee Clarke named woman of the year

The Mount Sinai-Irving J. Selikoff Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine presented its annual Woman of the Year Award to DC 37 Safety and Health Director Lee Clarke on Dec. 14.

The award was given in recognition of Clarke’s “dedicated service and unflagging commitment to the health and safety of our patients and workers across the State of New York.”

In presenting the award, Dr. Stephen Levin of the Mt. Sinai center spoke about Clarke’s contributions: “She’s straightforward, honest and forceful in pushing forth the demands and meeting the needs of the responder community.

She played the leadership role in building a citywide coalition to get resources for the city’s workers and in fighting to address their needs,” said Dr. Levin. “Lee Clarke is always prepared, knowledgeable, and committed, but she’s also very practical. This award is long overdue!”
