Health care fighters praise Moira Dolan

The Metro New York Health Care For All Campaign honored political, trade union and community leaders for their work in defense of health care justice Nov. 28 at its 2006 Annual Gala, which was held at AFSCME DC 1707 headquarters.

DC 37 plays an important role in the Save Our Safety Net Campaign, which received the Recognition for Community Leadership award at the event. The award was accepted by a group of activists, including Moira Dolan of the DC 37 Research and Negotiations Dept. The Recognition for Trade Union Leadership award was presented to labor leaders from the World Trade Center Community-Labor Coalition. DC 37 was a part of the labor coalition and the DC 37 Safety and Health Dept. was recognized as one of the award recipients.

Since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center, the coalition has bought together an impressive force of 19 labor unions to confront the indifference of public officials.
