Most members to
get 4 percent raises in February or March Under
the union’s 2005-2008 economic agreement, members covered are due a 4 percent
raise on Feb. 1. In recent weeks, DC 37 has been working with employer
labor relations officials to ensure that the raise is implemented as soon as possible.
City agencies, including the Dept. of Education, and the Health and Hospitals
Corp. and the Transit Authority will pay the increase Feb. 23 with retroactive
pay back to Feb. 1. The Housing Authority will pay the rate increase
and retro March 2. Members at the Off-Track Betting Corp. will get the 4 percent
March 2 and the retro March 16. The following dates for cultural institutions
were tentative as PEP went to press: El Museo del Barrio, Hall of Science, Museum
of the City of New York and Staten Island institutions — Feb. 2; Wave Hill
— Feb. 9; and Brooklyn, New York and Queens botanical gardens — Feb.
16. The American Museum of Natural History will also pay in February.
Also, the Wildlife Conservation Society will pay employees on Feb. 8.
The Brooklyn Museum and Queens Borough Public Library are paying Feb. 16.
Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Brooklyn
Public Library, New York Public Library and the Metropolitan Museum had not set
pay dates as PEP went to press. The economic agreement, which provides
for 10.17 percent in compounded wage and other increases, runs from July 1, 2005,
to March 2, 2008. In a mail-ballot vote, 97 percent of the covered members voted
for the contract. | |
