Employee Press Dates
set for raises in new pact
DC
37 is working with the city agencies and other municipal employers to ensure that
members receive their raises under the new economic agreement as soon as possible.
Ratified
in December by a 98 percent vote, the contract runs from March 3, 2008, through
March 2, 2010, and calls for 4 percent raises on March 3, 2008, and March 3, 2009.
The
union has confirmed the following target pay dates for the first and second raises
and increases in Recurring Increment Payments (RIPs):
Mayoral Agencies:
4% increase on pay rate, retro & overtimeFeb. 20. RIP increases and
retroMarch 6. Second 4% increase on rate, retro and overtimeApril
3; on RIP, with retroApril 17.
NYCHA: 4% increase on pay rate, retro
& overtime Feb. 27. RIP increase and retroMarch 13. Second 4%
increase on rateApril 10; retro on rate, RIP increase and retro on RIPApril
24.
Health and Hospitals Corp: 4% increase on pay rate, retro and overtime
was paid on Jan. 23 for full-time employees and on Jan. 30 for part-time employees,
including hourly workers. HHC will pay the March 3, 2008 RIP and associated retro
on March 20, 2009 for full time employees and on March 27,
2009 for part timers.
The second 4% increase,
RIP and associated retro will be paid on April 3, 2009 for full-time employees
and April 10, 2009 for part-time employees.
Dept. of Education:
first 4% increase and retroFeb. 19 for hourly (E Bank) employees,
Feb. 20 for annual (H Bank) employees. Second 4% increase and retroMarch
2 for hourly employees, March 3 for annual employees.
The second wage increase
for Family Paraprofessionals is not effective until after it is scheduled to be
paid for other "E Bank" employees. Therefore, Family Paraprofessionals
will receive the May 11, 2009 increase in their May 28, 2009 check, which will
include eight days at the May 11, 2008 rate and two days at the May 11, 2009 rate.
The first increase and retro is still scheduled for the February 19, 2009 check.
Cultural
institutions and the three library systems had not set pay dates as PEP went to
press.
The union is also pressing New York City Transit and other employers
toimplement the contract as soon as possible.
For members to receive the
second pay raise, their bargaining unit must certify that the union has no further
demands. | |
