dollars decorate Xmas tree The
DC 37 Hospitals and Blue Collar divisions combined efforts to raise $400 during
the holiday season to fight diabetes.
Every Christmas since 2004, Secretary
Marlene Nurse of Hospitals and Clerk/Typist III Irene Adams of Blue Collar have
set up a Christmas tree between their fourth-floor offices and invited everyone
who passes by to decorate the tree with dollar bills.
The money always
goes to a good cause. The 2009 proceeds are being donated to the American Diabetes
Association, which funds research to prevent and cure diabetes, provides information
and delivers services to improve the lives of people with the disease.
We
wanted to make a difference, said Nurse.
Im so proud
of our Hospitals and Blue Collar Division staffs, said DC 37 Executive Director
Lillian Roberts. Theyre busy working hard for their members, and they
have their own families too, but they still make this effort to help others during
the holidays.
