Union salutes longtime employees

In a year-end ceremony held Dec. 15, DC 37 recognized the long and dedicated service of 87 employees, the perfect attendance of 31 and the educational achievements of six.

"Working families are under attack nationwide and right here in New York," said Executive Director Lillian Roberts. "The employees we are honoring today play leading roles in our battle to protect the members of District Council 37."

Just as DC 37 members make the city work for residents, DC 37 staffers work with elected local leaders to make the union work for members. Human resources Director Amy Kadlub, who coordinated the ceremony, told the honorees, "You show what union brotherhood and sisterhood are all about."

Honored by Roberts and Associate Director Oliver Gray for reaching 35 years of service in 2011 were Kathleen Fitzgerald, Vincent Gagliardi, Patricia Taluy, Aurea "Mickey" Toledo and Arthur Waka.

Additional citations went to nine union employees who reached 30 years, 12 who hit the quarter-century mark, 19 who made 20 years, 15 with 15 years and 27 who completed 10 years of service in 2011.
