DC 37 honors long-time workers and building crew for service to membership

DC 37 recognized employees who reached milestones of service to union members in 2012 and 2013 at the union's annual holiday party on Dec. 12.

Honored by union leaders were 119 employees who passed the benchmarks of 10, 15 and 20 years, 52 who reached 25 and 30 years and 17 who completed 35 years. The 40-year honorees were Rhonda Johnson, Rosezetta Johnson, Vincent Louie and Ralph Pepe, and Color Press Operator Samuel Miller topped the list with 45 years of service.

Associate Director Oliver Gray commended DC 37's maintenance staff for their dedication and incredibly hard work under extremely difficult conditions as they helped get the union building up and running after Hurricane Sandy flooded the basement and first floor. In appreciation for a job well done Gray presented winter jackets to the maintenance staff headed by Al Locascio and Frank Morales, and the porters, security guards and handymen.

Six staffers were honored for their academic achievements, and DC 37 Education Committee Chair Shirley Williams, the president of Local 1219, presented the new Lillian Roberts Scholarship for Continuing Education to Local 371 member Ava Fevrier.
