Hearing set for March 7 on Code of Ethics procedures

The DC 37 Ethical Practices Committee invites all union members to a March 7 hearing on proposed rules for enforcing the Ethical Practices Code.

The union’s Ethical Practices Compliance Officer, Barbara C. Deinhardt, has proposed Rules of Practice and Procedure for ratification by the DC 37 Delegates. The proposed rules:

  • explain how a member may file a charge with the Ethics Officer,

  • describe the jurisdiction of the Officer,

  • provide for confidentiality and protect members who file charges about code violations from retaliation,

  • set out the authority of the Ethics Officer to conduct investigations, conduct interviews and request documents, and

  • include other procedures for enforcing the Ethical Practices Code, which is part of the DC 37 Constitution.

The Ethical Practices Committee has scheduled the hearing for March 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 12 at DC 37, 125 Barclay St., New York, N.Y.
The committee members are: Local 1503 President Robert Schirmer, Local 1482 President Marlene Rosenberg, Local 1655 President Donald Afflick and Local 2054 President Joan Reed.

Any member may attend the hearing and present his or her views, and members are entitled to a copy of the proposed rules. If you want a copy, please contact the District Council 37 Ethical Practices Officer at (212) 341-4740.
