Local 1407 sets up e-mail hot line

Local 1407 has established an e-mail hot line to improve services and communications within the local union. The address is:
Local1407@excite.com

“This is another way of bringing the union to the members,” said Maf Misbah Uddin, president of New York City Accountants & Actuaries & Statisticians Local 1407.

“For more and more people, e-mail is becoming as common as the telephone as a tool for communicating at home and at work,” Uddin said. “That’s why we want to offer this service.”

Uddin suggests that members use e-mail to make inquiries about local union issues, benefits, contractual rights and civil service.

But he stressed that members should discuss confidential matters, such as disciplinary and grievance cases, on the phone or at meetings with him or union reps.

The local union’s phone numbers are (212) 815-1910 (Uddin) and (212) 815-1933 (for Grievance Rep and Treasurer Raymond Sourial, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and for Grievance Rep and Executive Board member Michelle Gaddy, on Monday and Tuesday). DC 37 Rep Barbara Terrelonge, who is assigned to the local union, is reachable at (212) 815-1941.
