Boro Prez honors Roberts DC 37 Executive Director Lillian
Roberts received a Citation of Merit from Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr.
Feb. 7 at the official Bronx Black History Month celebration.
Roberts and
several distinguished community and labor leaders were honored for their contributions
to the people of New York City in the fields of higher education, law enforcement
and workers rights.
Carrion described Roberts as a dedicated
unionist who upholds the integrity and defends the rights of all working people.
He cited her accomplishments, contributions and commitment to the communities
of New York.
Its a great honor to receive this award
during this special month, which symbolizes the struggles of African American
people throughout this country, said Ms. Roberts during the ceremony.
Also
honored were Kyle Bragg of SEIU Building Services Local 32BJ, Captain Kim Royter
from the Police Dept., the Rev. Naomi Tyler-Lloyd from Trinity Baptist Church,
and Bronx Community College President Carolyn G. Williams.
