Bronx Boro Prez honors Roberts

DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts received a Citation of Merit from Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. Feb. 7 at the official Bronx Black History Month celebration.

Roberts and several distinguished community and labor leaders were honored for their contributions to the people of New York City in the fields of higher education, law enforcement and workers’ rights.

Carrion described Roberts as “a dedicated unionist who upholds the integrity and defends the rights of all working people.” He cited her “accomplishments, contributions and commitment to the communities of New York.”

“It’s a great honor to receive this award during this special month, which symbolizes the struggles of African American people throughout this country,” said Ms. Roberts during the ceremony.

Also honored were Kyle Bragg of SEIU Building Services Local 32BJ, Captain Kim Royter from the Police Dept., the Rev. Naomi Tyler-Lloyd from Trinity Baptist Church, and Bronx Community College President Carolyn G. Williams.
