Coming events

Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held at District Council 37, 125 Barclay St, in Lower Manhattan.

March is Women’s History Month. On Monday, March 2, at 5:30 p.m., join the DC 37 Women’s Committee as they open Women’s History Month and honor the women in President Barack Obama’s cabinet. And on Thursday, March 19 at 6 p.m., the committee will host an “Honoring Ourselves” celebration. For more information, call 212-815-1989 or look for flyers in the union lobby. On Friday, March 27, at 6 p.m., the Local 2627 Women’s Committee will present a program called “New York Herstories – Conversations with Women on the Move.”

On Friday, March 6, at 5:30 p.m., the Irish Heritage Committee will host its annual celebration. Tickets are $40. For more information, call 212-815-1741. On Friday, March 13, at noon, the committee will be selling Irish soda bread and decorative glasses in the union lobby. And you can join committee members as they march in the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17.

On Monday, March 23, at 6 p.m., the DC 37 Health and Nutrition Committee will host “Organ Donation – The Gift That Keeps on Giving,” a seminar that will answer myths, fears and confusion about organ donation. For more information, see page 17 or call 212-815-1375.

May 14 – Education Committee scholarship fundraiser, “An Evening of Jazz, Rhythm & Blues.”
May 15 – Asian Heritage Committee annual dinner and cultural program.
