Employee Press Union Scrapbook Tomanelli
retires from H & S Plan Long-time staffer Gloria
Tomanelli received a warm farewell from her union and DC 37 Health and Security
Plan colleagues at a Jan. 20 retirement party.
Gloria always gave
110 percent, said Administrator Cynthia Chin-Marshall, who recapped Tomanellis
more than 35 years at the plan, where she started out as a summer intern and ended
her service as the coordinator of benefits and services.
Honoring Tomanelli,
the plans Audrey Browne and Mickey Toledo made high-tech presentations.
Browne unveiled a PowerPoint spoof of the unions benefit services that she
prepared with plan staff and the Information Technology Dept., and Toledo presented
an electronic photo album depicting Tomanellis long service.
Other
speakers who gave Tomanelli a send-off included DC 37 Associate Director Oliver
Gray, Audrey E. Iszard of the Retirees Association, DC 37 Program Director Frances
M. Curtis and former Division Director John Toto.
My dad really believed
the union could improve the lives of its members, said Tomanelli, whose
father, Sam Tomanelli, was a leader of DC 37 Laborers in the early days of the
union. I hope I lived up to that commitment.
