Employee Press Union Scrapbook Twins
graduates, twin scholarships For 13 years, Human Resources
Administration worker Nina Liveyeve has been a member of Clerical-Administrative
Employees Local 1549. Last year, as her children stepped into new careers with
an important boost from the local, she added a new reason to be proud of her union.
At
HRA the mother of two helps provide public assistance to needy New Yorkers. She
entered Local 1549s scholarship lottery and four years ago, her son Oleg
and daughter Marina were both awarded $1,500 scholarships.
I was
so thankful, said Liveyeve. They needed all the financial help they
could get. It was very exciting and a real surprise.
Both students
graduated from Forest Hills High School and then parted ways as Oleg went to St.
Johns University to study pharmacy and Marina began to study accounting
at Queens College. Both graduated last year and stepped into their planned careers.
Oleg Liveyeve is now a pharmacist and Marina Liveyeve is working as an accountant.
From
the beginning, my union has helped me and Im very happy to be a part of
it, said their proud mother.
