Garrido leads activists in Albany

Executive Director Henry Garrido led a contingent of union activists to Albany for the 46th annual Legislative Conference.

Lee Saunders, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, DC 37's national union, was the keynote speaker at the traditional labor luncheon on Feb. 18. Saunders urged the activists to come together and fight the wave of right-to-work legislation sweeping the country.

The conference is sponsored by the New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators and takes place every year during the third weekend in February.

The weekend features workshops and panel discussions on a variety of topics, from health care to voting rights, bilingual education and educational reform.
