Special Convention
Locals electing delegates for May 10 vote on international VP

Specially elected delegates from District Council 37 locals will vote May 10 to choose one of DC 37’s two international vice presidents.

The IVPs represent DC 37 on the Executive Board of its parent union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Charles Ensley, president of DC 37’s Social Service Employees Union Local 371, was elected an IVP last year.

To fill a vacancy in the other IVP position, AFSCME will conduct the election at a Special Convention on Saturday, May 10 at DC 37.

DC 37 locals must elect delegates specifically for this purpose (except where local constitutions make certain officers automatic delegates) and give members at least 15 days’ notice of where and when they will hold nominations and elections for these delegates.

For information on their locals’ elections, members should check the meeting schedule on page 31 of this issue of PEP and watch their mail for a notice from their local.

As PEP went to press, nominees for the IVP position were Claude Fort, president of Civil Service Technical Guild Local 375; Eddie Rodriguez, president of Clerical-Administrative Employees Local 1549; and Joan Reed, president of College Assistants Local 2054.
