Local 1070 at the bargaining table

Court, County and Dept. of Probation Employees Local 1070 has launched negotiations for a new contract for workers in the state courts in New York City. The local, which represents 1,500 members, met with the state Unified Court System Feb. 15 at union headquarters.

In bargaining, Local 1070 plans to focus on boosting pay, improving the grievance process and health and safety issues, according to Local President Cliff Koppelman, who is also secretary of DC 37. The local’s latest contract expired on March 31, 2007.

Also at the session were Interpreters Chapter Chair Denise Figueroa, Court Reporters Chapter Chair Chris Butters and Vice Chair Diane Taylor, Law Stenographers Chapter Chair Janice Swift and Law Stenographers Chapter Vice Chair Charmaine Johnson.
