PAL’s Oscar Alvarado is honored

Assistant Director Oscar Alvarado of the DC 37 Political Action and Legislation Dept. and New York State Assembly members Earlene Hooper and Crystal Peoples were honored Feb. 15 by the Westchester Black Women’s Political Caucus.

The group cited Alvarado for his 19 years as a “dedicated labor activist working to advance the cause of social and economic justice for working families” and for “serving the underprivileged and working poor of the City of New York.”

“I was proud to be honored by this highly regarded political force,” he said. “Like DC 37, they work to include the needs of women and minorities as they educate the public and the political community.”

Alvarado is a member of Bronx Community Board #10. He has also served the union and his community as a member of the Democratic State Committee, representing the 82nd Assembly District; a member of the Board of Directors of Co-op City, where he lives with his wife and two children; and as liaison to the DC 37 Co-op City Community Association.

A former employee of the city’s Human Resources Administration, Alvarado has been at DC 37 since 1995 and was promoted to Assistant Director of the Political Action Dept. in 2003.
