More than a year after Hurricane Sandy swept through the city, residents of the New York City Housing Authority are still plagued by mold and damaged infrastructure, says a survey done by housing activists and released March 12 at City Hall. Activists from Community Voices Heard, the Alliance for a Just Rebuilding and other groups surveyed over 600 residents and found repairs seriously backlogged. "The coalition has worked diligently to uncover the challenges NYCHA residents and workers face, particularly after Hurricane Sandy. This report provides an opportunity to finally begin resolving these issues," said DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts. "The union looks forward to working with the coalition to help NYCHA residents and our members who work there." Members of the City Council, including Committee on Public Housing Chair Ritchie Torres, also expressed support. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
