DOT local leaders meet new commish

DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts welcomed new Dept. of Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg to labor's house March 13 for a meeting with the leaders of locals that represent DOT workers.

"Your members really do make New York City happen, and their response during this winter - with five feet of snow, 14 snowstorms and a record number of potholes - is remarkable," Trottenberg said, commending DOT employees for their hard work during one of the worst winters on record.

DC 37 has had a longstanding, amicable relationship with DOT management, including Labor Relations Director Gordon Goldberg and Deputy Commissioner for Human Resources Marlene Hochstadt, who also attended the get-together.

Roberts said DC 37 and its many locals with members at DOT hope that with the de Blasio administration, "We will be included in discussions on new policies because our members and leaders have a wealth of expertise and experience to draw from and are eager to offer ideas on how to improve services and help DOT fulfill its mission of safer roadways and streets for New Yorkers."
