Local 768 plans action team in Health Dept.

Local 768 held an emergency Sanitarians Chapter meeting April 21 to respond to members’ concerns about management’s handling of the televised Taco Bell rat incident.

Led by Local President Darryl Ramsey, members heatedly discussed management’s behavior and the need to address longstanding problems of the Public Health Sanitarians. A committee of PHSs was formed to devise an action plan on these issues. The committee will be part of an ongoing effort to build union activism and resolve workplace problems.

As PEP went to press, the union was planning for a high-level labor-management meeting on these issues with officials from the city’s Office of Labor Relations and the Health Dept.
