District Council 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts is featured in the March-April issue of The Crisis, the official magazine of the NAACP.

The issue commemorates Women’s History Month in March, with articles about African American women trailblazers who have made a difference in our nation.

The four-page story on Roberts, “Back in the Ring” by Audrey Edwards, calls her “the heavyweight champion of labor organizers.”

It continues, “Twenty-one years after leaving the union she helped build, labor organizer Lillian Roberts is back in the ring. ‘I never really left,’ Roberts says of her return as the union’s leader. ‘The union was always a part of my soul.’ ”

The NAACP started the magazine in 1910 with the famed writer, educator, historian, Pan-Africanist and civil rights leader W.E.B. Du Bois as its founding editor.

District Council 37 members who cannot find the publication at their newsstand can get a copy for a discounted $2 by writing to India Artis, Business Manager, The Crisis, 4805 Mt.
