The DC 37 Caribbean Heritage Committee held its third annual interfaith service on the evening of April 2 at union headquarters in lower Manhattan. Committee Chair Carmen Charles, who is the president of Municipal Hospital Employees Local 420, emceed the event.

“This gathering celebrates our diversity and highlights the cultural contributions of people from many nations who come to New York City and make it great and make our union strong,” said Program Director Frances M. Curtis, who spoke on behalf of DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts. Guests at this year’s celebration included the Honorable Sylvia Ash, a former MELS attorney, and Reverend Mother Eunice Sebro of St. John’s Spiritual Baptist Church.

The committee’s next fundraising event will be a formal gala at Brooklyn’s Grand Prospect Hall in June. For more information and tickets, please call 212-815-1502 or 212-815-1420.
