DC 37 Health and Security News
Prescription plan provider is now OptumRx

The DC 37 Health and Security Plan's prescription benefit provider has a new name.

Effective Aug. 1, Prescription Solutions will be known as OptumRx.

Don't worry: The change does not affect your drug coverage or co-pays.

For the time being, participants should continue to use the Prescription Solutions website (www.prescriptionsolutions.com), which will automatically redirect visitors to the OptumRx site.

Members and non-Medicare eligible retirees will continue to have the same online tools and features, including: refilling and renewing prescriptions, transferring prescriptions from your retail pharmacy to OptumRx's mail service pharmacy, and viewing your benefits.

You may continue to use the same user ID and password when you log in to the site.

The name change reflects the consolidation and monopolization occurring in the health-care and prescription-drug markets.

In 2008,the union's former prescription drug manager, Innoviant, was gobbled up by Prescription Solutions, which the United Health Group later acquired. Now, United Health is consolidating its prescription drug and other health services under the Optum name.

DC 37 members and covered retirees may continue to use their Innoviant or Prescription Solutions drug cards at their pharmacy.

Thanks to a nationwide database, though, you don't even need to present a card because participating pharmacies should be able to use your name and Social Security number to verify that you're covered by OptumRx.
