Employee Press Political Action 2004 What's at stake in November PEOPLE fund growing Tonight is all about taking back America, said Executive Director Lillian Roberts April 29 as DC 37 honored six locals that raised their PEOPLE contributions by 10 percent or more in the last year. PEOPLE Committee Chair Esther Sandy Tucker presented plaques for their outstanding achievements in AFSCMEs Take Back America drive to leaders of Lifeguards Local 461, Lifeguard Supervisors Local 508, Laborers Local 924, Sewage Treatment Workers Local 1320, Juvenile Justice Local 1457 and Clerical-Administrative Local 1549. PEOPLE is gaining momentum and raising funds to beat George W. Bush in 2004 and turn the tables on the anti-labor president, who takes away the union rights of thousands of workers in Homeland Security and uses the campaign finance law against unions to make it harder to get out the message of working families, said DC 37 Political Action Director Wanda Williams.
