Social Worker wins 2004 Sloan Award

Rolanda Pyle, director of the Grandparent Resource Center at the Dept. of the Aging, got one of seven Sloan Public Service Awards from the Fund for the City of New York March 24.

Ms. Pyle heads the first municipal resource center for grandparents who, often suddenly and without preparation, find themselves the main caregivers for young children.

In 2000, she received a scholarship for social work school from SSEU Local 371’s Committee of Concerned Social Workers. Fund President Dr. Mary McCormick called the awardees “innovators, compassionate human beings and visionary thinkers who consistently make a difference.”
