classes available at union headquarters Are you looking
for an interesting way to spend a Saturday morning or afternoon? The DC 37 Education
Dept. is offering Crochet, Guitar, Photography, Tai Chi and Yoga classes.
Classes
will be held on Saturdays, beginning Sept. 20. Register at DC 37, 125 Barclay
St., Manhattan, 2nd floor (near Room 202) on Friday, Sept. 12, from noon to 2
p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, June 28 and Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. All classes will meet for 10 weeks. The fee for each program is $45.
Only
money orders made payableto District Council 37 will be accepted. No cash or personal
checks, please. Class fees do not include equipment.
Classes are available
only to employees whose titles fall under the jurisdiction of DC 37, including
their spouses, dependent children, and retirees.
Class size is limited
to 18. Early registration is recommended.

Guitar Guitar classes
are for ages 8 to adult. The classes include basic technique, fundamentals of
melody, harmony and rhythm for guitarists. Classes will meet as follows: beginners,
ages 8 to 15, 10 to 11 a.m.; beginners, ages 16 to adult, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.;
intermediate, 12 to 1 p.m.
Digital Images and
35 mm Learn the new technology of digital photography and 35 mm
camera technique, create your own Web site, scanning and retouching your photos,
e-mailing your images and much more. Class does not include darkroom instruction.
Students must provide equipment and supplies. The class will be held from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Open to ages 15 to adult.
Tai
Chi A gentle exercise for relaxation, stress reduction and internal
strength and as a martial art. Come explore the healing benefits of Tai
Chi in this introduction to Yang style Tai Chi. For ages 18 and up. Beginners,
1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Yoga Master the
basics of achieving balance in your life through the discipline of yoga. Classes
are specifically tailored for relaxation, toning and increased flexibility. This
class, held from10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., is open to beginners ages 16 and up.
Crochet Learn
the basics of crochet from the foundation up. For the beginner class: no experience
necessary. For advanced class: students must be able to read patterns and identify
and execute stitches. Classes will meet as follows: beginners, 10 to 11:30 a.m.;
advanced, 12 to 1:30 p.m. | |
