certified in medical billing
Neither demanding family obligations
nor busy work schedules discouraged 16 DC 37 members from completing a grueling
18 months of evening classes in medical billing and coding.
The determined
graduates the second class to complete the program received their
certificates April 30 in a joyous ceremony with their families and staff from
the DC 37 Education Fund and Monroe College, which jointly provided the course.
You
have all worked very hard to succeed, and we are all very proud of you today,
said Viviana Tillman, associate administrator of the DC 37 Education Fund.
The
students also received congratulations for a job well done from Assistant Director
of the Allied Health Unit Helen Chappell and Program Coordinator Stephen Johnson
of the fund and Monroe Deans Jerry Kostroff of the School of Allied Health and
Ted Goldstein of the Bachelors Degree Programs.
It was a lot
of hard work, said Maria Vargas, who spoke on behalf of the new graduates.
But with the support of our families and our great teachers, we did it!
Vargas
was one of eight members from Local 1549 who finished the classes. Members interested
in taking the course should call the Education Fund at 212-815-1700 for an application
or download one at www.dc37.com.
