Grievance Representative Bernard Wade and the staff at JHS 189 congratulate Helen Ludwig S.L.H. for 42 years of service in the food and nutrition services.

Sent in by Linda Vetella of P.S. 138: In loving memory of Clara Chimelis who passed away on May 21, 2001. She was our Shop Steward and School Aide at P.S. 138 in the Bronx. On behalf of all of us, Clara, you are gone but will never be forgotten. With love, the School Aides and Kitchen Staff of P.S. 138.

The staff at P.S. 191Q in District 26 extend birthday wishes to School Lunch Aide Agnes Brown. Agnes celebrated her 80th birthday June 1. We all wish her continued health, happiness and prosperity.

Submitted by Shop Steward Linda Bock of the104th Precinct: Deepest sympathy to S.C.G. Grace Scandariato and her family on the loss of her father Frank Scaturro from all the School Crossing Guards of the 104th Precinct.

Sent in by Shop Steward Lindel Harris of Clara Barton H.S.: The family and co-workers of Marion Broxton who worked at P.S. 138 in District 17 for 21 years and Joseph Broxton who worked at Bay Academy J.H.S. in District 21 for the past 14 years extend best wishes on their retirement. The couple just celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.

Shop Steward and Family Worker of District 13 Gloria Reese congratulates Virginia Archibald, Outreach/Para/Data Entry Cap person of Dist. 13, Committee on Special Education (CSE). Virginia joined the Board of Ed. on March 8, 1981, seven months after arriving in New York from her native country, Trinidad and Tobago. She worked at 110 Livingston under Mrs. Inez Fonti where she spent a couple of months at the Regional Office, then settled at Dist. 13 (CSE). Virginia celebrated 20 years of service with the Board on March 8, 2001. On May 24, Virginia will graduate from the College of New Rochelle, DC 37 Campus, and continue her education in the master’s program.

Gloria Reese, Family Worker/Para/Shop Steward, Committee on Special Education (CSE) Dist. 13 family workers. Gloria has been employed with the CSE for eight years. Her first assignment was assisting the School Based Support Team (SBST), shortly after working with the SBST she was assigned to the CSE district office. She is actively involved, and works very closely with her Chairperson, Deborah Doris. Ms. Doris has been supportive in Gloria’s efforts to achieve her bachelor’s degree at Audrey Cohen College, as of June. Gloria looks forward to pursuing her new profession as an elementary school teacher in the city’s public schools. “Hard work and perseverance sure did pay off.”

Congratulations to John Hunt, Paraprofessional/Outreach Worker/Bilingual Translator who has been employed with the Board of Ed. for eight years. His first assignment was within the CSE District 13. He assisted in many areas where there was a need for bilingual aid, such as translating IEP’s and interpreting in CSE conference meetings. Presently, John works closely under the supervision of his chairperson, Ms. Deborah Doris, as an outreach worker to parents who have children with special needs. John graduated from the College of New Rochelle in May. He will continue to pursue his education to achieve a master’s degree.
